Areas of Interest: I specialize in supporting people through a variety of challenges, including but not limited to: • Anxiety and Stress Management: Whether you’re overwhelmed by daily pressures or struggle with chronic worry, I’ll help you develop strategies to manage anxiety, reduce stress, and build resilience. Together, we’ll tackle your stressors, because anxiety isn’t the boss of you (even if it sometimes thinks it is!).

• Grief and Loss: Dealing with the emotional impact of loss—whether it’s the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or a major life change—can be overwhelming. I work with individuals to process grief, find meaning, and gradually rebuild a sense of stability.

• Self-Doubt and Low Self-Esteem: Many people struggle with negative self-talk and lack of confidence. I help clients reframe those thoughts, challenge limiting beliefs, and develop a stronger, healthier sense of self. You’re capable of more than you give yourself credit for—let’s help you see that.

• Emotional Overwhelm: If you often feel flooded by emotions, I’ll help you manage those feelings in ways that lead to lasting emotional regulation. Together, we can build tools that help you stay grounded and calm even when life feels like it’s throwing everything at you.

• Compassion Fatigue: I have a special interest in helping healthcare workers, first responders, and caregivers who experience compassion fatigue. I help them regain emotional balance, set healthy boundaries, and prioritize their own well-being so they can continue to care for others without burning out.

• Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress: For those who’ve experienced traumatic events, I use EMDR and R-TEP to help process painful memories, reducing their emotional charge and allowing you to regain a sense of peace. Whether it’s from past abuse, accidents, or witnessing trauma, we’ll work toward your healing. • Learning Challenges and Cognitive Assessments: I offer psychoeducational assessments to help identify cognitive strengths and areas of difficulty, such as learning disabilities or memory challenges. These assessments can offer valuable insights that guide both educational and career decisions.

• Chronic Illness and Mental Health: I support individuals managing chronic illnesses by addressing the mental and emotional toll of long-term health challenges. Together, we’ll explore ways to cope with the physical and emotional effects, improve your mental health, and integrate health management into your daily life.

• Life Transitions: Whether it’s a career change, adjusting to new family dynamics, or coping with any significant life event, I help you manage the anxiety and uncertainty that often come with big life changes.

Professional Background: Hi, I’m Morganne. As a psychologist, I work with people from all walks of life—whether you’re navigating the teenage years, managing the stresses of adulthood, or going through a major life transition. My own experience with therapy shaped my belief that, while it can be challenging, therapy is one of the most meaningful paths to growth and healing. I remember how intimidating it felt at first. It was like stepping into a new world where the only thing I knew was that I had no idea what to expect. But over time, I realized that therapy isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about showing up and being willing to explore the process. That’s why I say, “Therapy is like a relationship; it’s not always fun, but you definitely get something out of it.”

Before becoming a psychologist, I volunteered in peer support, which helped me realize that therapy isn’t about being the “answer person” but rather about holding space and being present for others. I also volunteered with the Edmonton Distress Line, offering crisis support and learning how to provide calm and empathy during difficult times. These experiences taught me the power of active listening, compassion, and creating a safe, non-judgmental space for people to open up. _____________ **Building Trust and Connection** Starting therapy can feel like jumping into the unknown, and I get it—it’s a big step. My goal is to make sure you feel heard, understood, and comfortable from the very beginning. I do this by actively listening, explaining things clearly, and meeting you where you’re at. Over time, we’ll set goals together that resonate with you, at a pace that feels right. I believe that humor, authenticity, and the occasional well-timed swear word (when appropriate!) can break the tension and make the process feel more human and relatable. Let’s face it—therapy can be tough, but we don’t always have to be serious. After all, healing is important, but so is laughing. ______________ Why I Love What I Do I’m constantly inspired by the resilience people show in the face of adversity. There’s something truly rewarding about witnessing someone’s growth, whether it’s through a small realization or a major breakthrough. Those moments when things “click” are what keep me excited about my work. It’s a reminder that the healing process is real, even if it’s messy at times. And honestly, the joy I get from seeing clients move through their challenges reminds me that I have the best job in the world. But I won’t lie—it’s also the stories and the occasional unexpected laugh that make this job one I truly enjoy. ____________ Therapeutic Approach and Self-Compassion

In therapy, my approach is flexible and tailored to your needs. I use a variety of tools depending on what resonates with you, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which explores how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. Together, we’ll identify negative thought patterns and work to replace them with more balanced ones. I also incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which is great for managing intense emotions and improving relationships, as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on accepting things outside your control while redirecting energy toward what really matters to you.

For those who have experienced stressful or traumatic events, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Rapid Trauma Exposure Protocol (R-TEP). EMDR helps process painful memories by revisiting them in a controlled and safe way, reducing their emotional charge over time. R-TEP, on the other hand, is a more immediate approach, designed to help individuals deal with acute stress reactions and process traumatic experiences quickly.

I also focus heavily on the importance of self-compassion—treating yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer to others. This can be really hard, especially when we’re not used to it, but I believe it’s transformative. Working together to develop self-compassion is one of the most empowering things we can do for ourselves. Because let’s face it—if we treated our friends the way we sometimes treat ourselves, we’d probably be out of friends! Let’s change that, one kind word at a time. ____________ Feedback and Professional Collaboration I’ve often heard that people appreciate my ability to explain things clearly and provide a calm, steady presence. I’m quick to adjust my approach if something isn’t quite working, ensuring that you feel supported every step of the way. I also believe in empowering you to take an active role in your healing process, setting meaningful goals that are unique to your journey. I collaborate with other professionals—doctors, psychiatrists, and more—to provide holistic, comprehensive care. I understand that mental health is part of a larger picture, and teamwork often creates the best outcomes. ____________ Personal Interests Outside of therapy, I unwind with video games like Stardew Valley, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Disney Dreamlight Valley. These games help me recharge and bring a grounded energy to my work. I’m also an avid reader, currently captivated by Fourth Wing. When I’m not gaming or reading, I spend quality time with my two energetic dogs and my partner. Whether it’s playing together or going for walks, those moments of connection help me maintain balance and joy in my own life.
